{"id":102,"date":"2007-07-19T06:00:59","date_gmt":"2007-07-19T12:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/2007\/07\/19\/what-happens-when-you-dont-have-a-guitar-player\/"},"modified":"2011-03-10T21:19:21","modified_gmt":"2011-03-11T03:19:21","slug":"what-happens-when-you-dont-have-guitar-player","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/what-happens-when-you-dont-have-guitar-player\/","title":{"rendered":"What Happens When You Don&#8217;t Have a Guitar Player?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>One thing I should have mentioned at the beginning of the week, to do in all of these cases is pray<\/strong>.\u00a0 Pray for these players to show up.\u00a0 God will provide.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some ideas for what to do when you don&#8217;t have a guitar player:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ask your youth leader<\/strong>.\u00a0 More than likely one of the youth is learning how to play.\u00a0 <strong>Invest time in that youth<\/strong>.\u00a0 See if the church will help you financially invest in getting lessons for the youth.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teach your piano player to play rhythmically<\/strong>.\u00a0 Often times piano players play only by note and play way too many notes.\u00a0 Teach them to drive the music with the chords instead of the notes.\u00a0 There are times when many notes are important, but with the faster songs that you would want a guitarist for, the piano player can drive the rhythm if taught how to do it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t pick guitar-driven songs<\/strong>.\u00a0 Songs such as &#8220;God of Wonders&#8221; and &#8220;Everlasting God&#8221; have a very distinct sound that is created by a specific strumming pattern from the guitar.\u00a0 Avoid picking songs that have a definite and prominent guitar strum.\u00a0 It is nearly impossible to re-create certain guitar strums on the piano.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>If you do more modern songs in your congregation, how have you made them work without using a guitar player?<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 5px 5px 0;float:left;height:50px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/what-happens-when-you-dont-have-guitar-player\/\" send=\"false\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"595\" show_faces=\"false\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One thing I should have mentioned at the beginning of the week, to do in all of these cases is pray.\u00a0 Pray for these players to show up.\u00a0 God will provide.
