Continuing our look at 1 Peter 2, let’s look at verses 2-8:<\/p>\n
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.\u00a0As you come to him, the living Stone; rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him; you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:
\n“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
\na chosen and precious cornerstone,
\nand the one who trusts in him
\nwill never be put to shame.”
\nNow to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
\n“The stone the builders rejected
\nhas become the capstone,” and,
\n“A stone that causes men to stumble
\nand a rock that makes them fall.”
\nThey stumble because they disobey the message\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwhich is also what they were destined for.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\nAs mentioned last time, being a “living sacrifice,” (Rom. 12:1-2) requires that we offer everything of ourselves to God.\u00a0 Peter calls us in this passage to first of all, crave pure spiritual milk<\/strong>.\u00a0 We are not to crave and long for teachings of this world that will pass away, mystical teachings that appear in many of today’s modern movies, or anything like that, but rather the pure Word of God.\u00a0 As we do this, we will being to understand who God is and what He has done for us<\/strong>.\u00a0 We will be able to truly make Him the cornerstone of our lives.<\/p>\n
Paul goes on to say that to those who believe (those craving pure spiritual milk) the stone is precious.\u00a0 To those who disobey the message, the stone causes them to stumble. <\/span>Let us lay aside our human desire for modern teachings, and always come back to the Word of God, treating it as an amazingly precious gift<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
