Last night in my devotions I read through Proverbs 24, and remembered how applicable the Proverbs are for today.\u00a0 Take a look at vs. 30-34,<\/p>\n
I passed by the field of the sluggard And by the vineyard of the man lacking <\/span>sense, <\/span>And behold, it was completely overgrown <\/span>with thistles; Its surface was covered with nettles, <\/span>And its stone wall <\/span>was broken down. When I saw, I reflected <\/span>upon it; I looked, {and} received instruction. <\/span>A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest,” Then your poverty will come {as} a <\/span>robber And your want like an <\/span>armed man.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
What do we do with our time<\/strong>?\u00a0 I know that I have been very guilty lately of wasting a lot of time.\u00a0 I have spent time on things that were definitely not pleasing to God, and I have spent time on things that, while not necessarily bad, just didn’t profit God’s kingdom at all<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
When we spend our time during the day, do we think of the advancement of God’s kingdom<\/strong>?\u00a0 Do we think of how we can be sharing God’s love with someone?\u00a0 Or do we think of how we can take “a little folding of the hands to rest.”\u00a0 While rest is of course good, when we purposefully put off important things just to relax, we get caught in the trap of having an overgrown vineyard with a broken wall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
But praise God that He doesn’t leave us without any power to be able to spend time wisely!\u00a0 I pray that today you would not ask God for more time, but that you would ask God to help you manage your time more wisely, so that you can offer it to Him in worship!<\/p>\n
