{"id":705,"date":"2010-10-07T06:00:46","date_gmt":"2010-10-07T12:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/?p=705"},"modified":"2011-03-10T20:41:58","modified_gmt":"2011-03-11T02:41:58","slug":"9-ways-worship-leaders-music-ministers-can-show-pastor-appreciation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/9-ways-worship-leaders-music-ministers-can-show-pastor-appreciation\/","title":{"rendered":"9 Ways Worship Leaders and Music Ministers can Show the Pastor Appreciation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/cam_sm1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-708\" title=\"Clergy Appreciation Month\" src=\"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/cam_sm1.jpg\" alt=\"Promotional Artwork for Clergy Appreciation Month\" width=\"150\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a>With October being <a title=\"Parsonage.org | Clergy Appreciation Month\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parsonage.org\/cam\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Pastor Appreciation Month<\/a> I wanted to share what I think are ten great ideas that worship leaders and music ministers could use to show appreciation for their pastor(s):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Take an interest in theology. \u00a0Your pastor would love it if you added depth of thought to your depth of musical skill.<\/li>\n<li>Write a song specifically for your local congregation. \u00a0Ask him what the church is needing to express through music right now. \u00a0The pastor loves the church and would love this way for the church to unite the music and emotion.<\/li>\n<li>If he has kids offer to give them a month (or a year, or five years, or a lifetime, even!) of free music lessons.<\/li>\n<li>Ask for counsel and receive it with grace. \u00a0Ask specifically for objective counsel on how you lead worship or music every Sunday morning.<\/li>\n<li>Let him use the song you &#8220;just plain don&#8217;t like&#8221; \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>If you co-plan your services, offer to plan an entire series of services on your own and follow through<\/li>\n<li>Arrange for someone to lead the service, give the message, and do everything the pastor normally does so he can worship with his family for one service without having to be on vacation to do it<\/li>\n<li>Tell him what <strong>he&#8217;s <\/strong>taught you about worship<\/li>\n<li>Pray. \u00a0Pray. \u00a0Pray.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What would you add to this list? \u00a0Pastors? \u00a0Worship leaders? \u00a0Music Ministers?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(side note &#8211; I found the image for clergy appreciation month from Parsonage.org and searched and searched for something better &#8211; anyone seen anything?)<br \/>\n(side, side note for geeky web-design types &#8211; who knows how to style my ordered list so that it shows 1-10 instead of A-J? *Thanks to Matt Nelson who helped figure this out in the comments.)<\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 5px 5px 0;float:left;height:50px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/9-ways-worship-leaders-music-ministers-can-show-pastor-appreciation\/\" send=\"false\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"595\" show_faces=\"false\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With October being Pastor Appreciation Month I wanted to share what I think are ten great ideas that worship leaders and music ministers could use to show appreciation for their pastor(s): Take an interest in theology. \u00a0Your pastor would love it if you added depth of thought to your depth of musical skill.
