{"id":71,"date":"2007-04-04T12:44:01","date_gmt":"2007-04-04T18:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/?p=71"},"modified":"2011-03-10T21:22:52","modified_gmt":"2011-03-11T03:22:52","slug":"dying-to-self","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/dying-to-self\/","title":{"rendered":"How to be an Offering &#8211; Dying to Self"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something that&#8217;s been on my mind a lot lately is how selfish we (especially going up in the United States) tend to be.  <strong>We are a culture dominated by self<\/strong>.  We are driven by self.  But, it&#8217;s not really much of a surprise, considering we were born as selfish people.  <strong>But the Bible would have us think the complete opposite<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Galatians 2:20-21 says,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  If Christ lives in us, this would mean that we:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have compassion for those who don&#8217;t know Him.<\/li>\n<li>Desire to help those who are less blessed than we are.<\/li>\n<li>Desire to lead and make disciples<\/li>\n<li>Desire God&#8217;s will over our own.<\/li>\n<li>Are willing to die for our belief.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Boy, I think so often we have judgment and contempt for those who don&#8217;t know Him; we desire to see oursleves become more blessed, no matter the cost to others; we&#8217;re afraid to make disciples because we don&#8217;t feel qualified; we definitely tend  to desire our own will over God&#8217;s; and many times we aren&#8217;t even willing to speak up for our beliefs, let alone die for them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I pray that Christ and all of His desires really do live in me and really begin to show<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 5px 5px 0;float:left;height:50px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/iamanoffering.com\/blog\/dying-to-self\/\" send=\"false\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"595\" show_faces=\"false\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Something that&#8217;s been on my mind a lot lately is how selfish we (especially going up in the United States) tend to be.
